The Maine Tour Connection Staff

Jeanne M. McGurn | Donna Hanson | Jackie Kramer | Chris Rackmyre

Isn't it nice to put a face with the voice on the other end of the phone when planning your group tour?  So here we are!  We thought you might like to get to know us personally...

Jeanne M. McGurn, CTP, President & Owner
Originally from Boston, Jeanne spent summers in Maine since she was 6-months old Jeanne M. McGurnand considers herself a "native" Mainer now.  Of course, that is arguable by any true Mainer!

The only roots in Maine she has are the ones her hairdresser colors every month!  Little did she know that when she spent 30 hours awake on a motorcoach to Daytona Beach for college spring break that she would later become the "Lobster Lady."  Her years of teaching school were a good training camp for her  tour guiding transition.

The Lobster Lady was 'born' in 1983 at the National Tour Association convention in Houston, TX (and now you're saying she's only 18??).  Unbeknownst to us, her crustacean reputation would become a brand name in the motorcoach industry.  Jeanne hopes to return in her next life as a championship ballroom dancer.

Donna HansonDonna Hanson, Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Fun

Known as "Mrs. Moose," Donna grew up in Connecticut but relocated 24 years ago to the family compound out in the boondocks - where you truly DO see moose.  She travels daily from the Maine woods to the ocean - the best of both worlds!

Donna maintains a log home on the mighty Saco River.  The compound is heavily guarded by two commando cats and Amadeus, an acrobatic little parrot who thinks he is an eagle. When Donna isn't maintaining the pet menagerie, she likes to play guitar and paint. She can also type faster than you can talk!

Donna recently won a trophy with her own bus...no, not the motorcoach type, the 1977 vintage Volkswagen camper kind.  You might spot this Nana at an antique car show or camped out, pickin' and grinnin' at a bluegrass festival.  So don't let Donna's executive Wal-Mart wardrobe fool you.  She also leads weekend motorcycle tours along the scenic backroads of northern New England and the Maritimes.  Might be the reddish hair, but it's possible she was Anne of Green Gables in a former life.

Jackie Kramer, Reservations/Operations

Our Reservations & Operations Manager is no strangerJackie Kramer to the industry. And she's a real native-Mainer from the south coast region!

Jackie Kramer began her travel & hospitality career as a flight attendant and was most recently at the DoubleTree Hotel Portland. She's making the rounds from planes to boats to buses! She retires on the weekends to a 38-foot boat docked not far from the office on Portland Harbor.  So we have dubbed her our "Casco Bay Queen".  Besides a wealth of New England touring knowledge, Jackie probably knows all the best fishing spots!

Because she lives within walking distance of headquarters, we're delighted to report this proud 'Mimi' of two beautiful boys will be answering the phones during even the wildest of snow storms!

Chris Rackmyre, CTIS, General Manager

ChrisChris is the recent addition to The Maine Tour Connection’s "Lobster Trap." Having commuted for many years from upstate NY to ME to spend time with Jordan and his two girls, Lauren and Hannah, Jeanne received a large wad of cash from Jordan and the girls to hire her.

And who knew that schlepping Jeanne’s shopping bags ("I don’t really need it but it was such a good deal”) from PBA to Maine each year would change the course of her destiny and shape her into a Lobsterette.

When in Kindergarten, a local newspaper quoted her when asked “What does your father do for a living? She answered “I don’t know what he does but when he comes home he’s tired and lays on the couch watching TV!"  This must have gone over big with his friends...  It was Dad's example of hard work that gave Chris her work ethic. Her sales persona developed in her early years with a paper route.  She excelled in 50 mile walkathons and always raised lots of $$$ for the cause.  She knew how to sell those customers on sponsorships! Chris is our own Olympian from days past as she played a variety of sports in high school and college. She received the Outstanding Women's Athlete Award in college. We won’t tell you what year!

When it comes to dedication, Chris is a fabulous example with 18 years at the Queensbury Hotel. She worked the gamut from wait staff to Director of Sales. Rarely do you find a hotel person in one place for such tenure - so many great hotel tales! Chris also volunteered and served on the Adirondack Regional CVB Board and became a Certified Travel Industry Specialist.  She completed American Bus Association's CTIS program in 1999, served as Chairperson for Resource Central and is completing her role as Chairperson of the CTIS Committee for 2007 & 2008.

Not sure when Chris thinks she is going to find time to have any hobbies, but we let her daydream about them.  She enjoys the outdoors – snow shoeing, snowmobiling, canoeing and treasure hunting.  Her favorite thing to do is go to Goose Rocks Beach in the winter with Jordan, Lauren, Hannah & Angus (he’s an Irish Wolfhound you can ride) to scout for treasures....like sand dollars.  She and Hannah will have a Maine Sand Dollar booth at The Big E someday!  Good thing she doesn’t own a metal detector on a stick or we would never see her at the office....

Chris has a niece, Marlysa, whom she absolutely adores. Marlysa has nicknamed her favorite auntie "CHA-CHA".  Perhaps Marlysa has been watching Dancing with the Stars too much? CHA CHA? Regardless, Marlysa is one of our favorite Maine Tour Connection souvenir hat models.  Ask Chris to show you her photo!
