Chris Rackmyre, CTIS,
General Manager
Chris
is the recent addition to The Maine Tour Connection’s "Lobster Trap."
Having commuted for many years from upstate NY to ME to spend time
with Jordan and his two girls, Lauren and Hannah, Jeanne received a
large wad of cash from Jordan and the girls to hire her.
And who knew that schlepping Jeanne’s
shopping bags ("I don’t really need it but it was such a good deal”)
from PBA to Maine each year would change the course of her destiny and
shape her into a Lobsterette.
When in Kindergarten, a local newspaper
quoted her when asked “What does your father do for a living? She
answered “I don’t know what he does but when he comes home he’s tired
and lays on the couch watching TV!" This must have gone over big with his
friends... It was Dad's example of hard work that
gave Chris her work ethic. Her sales persona developed in her early
years with a paper route. She excelled in 50 mile
walkathons and always raised lots of $$$ for the cause. She knew
how to sell those customers on sponsorships! Chris is our own Olympian
from days past as she played a variety of sports in high school and
college. She received the Outstanding Women's Athlete Award in
college. We won’t tell you what year!
When it comes to dedication, Chris is a
fabulous example with 18 years at the Queensbury
Hotel. She worked the gamut from wait staff to Director of
Sales. Rarely do you find a hotel person in one place for such tenure
- so many great hotel tales! Chris also volunteered and served on the Adirondack Regional CVB
Board and became a Certified Travel Industry Specialist. She completed
American Bus Association's CTIS program in 1999, served
as Chairperson for Resource Central and is completing her role as
Chairperson of the CTIS Committee for 2007 & 2008.
Not sure when Chris thinks she is going
to find time to have any hobbies, but we let her daydream about them.
She enjoys the outdoors – snow shoeing, snowmobiling,
canoeing and treasure hunting. Her favorite thing to do is go to Goose Rocks Beach in the
winter with Jordan, Lauren, Hannah & Angus (he’s an Irish Wolfhound
you can ride) to scout for treasures....like sand dollars. She
and Hannah will have a Maine Sand Dollar booth at The Big E someday! Good thing she doesn’t
own a metal detector on a stick or we would never see her at the
office....
Chris has a niece, Marlysa, whom she
absolutely adores. Marlysa has nicknamed her favorite auntie
"CHA-CHA". Perhaps Marlysa has been watching Dancing with the Stars
too much? CHA CHA? Regardless, Marlysa is one of our favorite Maine
Tour Connection souvenir hat models. Ask Chris to show you her
photo!
