Meet The Lobster Lady® and the Lobsterettes
Jeanne M. McGurn, CTP
The Lobster Lady®
Jeanne came to tourism from teaching. She had a summer job narrating tours while driving a van for a local tour company. It is like teaching on wheels only she doesn't have to tell people to keep their feet off the seats!
She explored options within the motorcoach industry, and soon realized there was a niche for someone who could attract tour operators to Maine. Jeanne was fortunate to have a supportive relative who helped her get started. He knew nothing about the industry but gambled on her enthusiasm for it!
All of those years in a conga line at convention has fueled her passion to come back in the next life as a winner of the Dancing with Stars' Mirror Ball trophy. Who knows maybe even a talk show hostess…she wouldn’t even need any guests!
Known throughout the industry as The Lobster Lady®, McGurn has brought tens of thousands of visitors to Maine, New England, and Eastern Canada over the past 33 years.
Vice President of Sales, Marketing
Donna grew up in Connecticut but relocated 30 years ago to the family compound out in the boondocks - where you truly do see moose. She travels daily from the Maine woods to the ocean, the best of both worlds!
Donna maintains a log home on the mighty Saco River that runs from the New Hampshire White Mountains to the south coast of Maine. The compound is heavily guarded by an assortment of pets who rule the deck, the dock, and the barn, but not the snowmobile. You might spot Donna riding her motorcycle or camped out in her bus - that's right the 1977 Volkswagen Westy kind- pickin' and grinnin' around a festival bonfire.
How many of you actually work in the career for which you went to college? Having majored in Tour & Travel Administration, Donna has an extensive background in the hospitality industry including hotels around New England and the CVB of Greater Portland. So you can bet she will continue to roll out the red carpet for you!
Lacy Antonson Reservation Coordinator
Lacy was a native of Illinois, before relocating in 2015 to her dream house on Little Sebago Lake with her husband, their black Labrador, and their youngest daughter’s cat.
Lacy is no stranger to Maine, having vacationed north of Portland several times over the past 25 years to visit close family and friends. Her current favorite pastimes in Maine are dining out, sightseeing, soaking in the scenery and sunsets, gardening, and kayaking.
Her professional background is in non-profit administration, policy and organization, including many years of community service while raising 3 kids back in Illinois.
She joined TMTC in Spring 2016 and enjoys getting to know the "Inns" and outs of the receptive tour/hospitality industry.
Chris Rackmyre, CTIS
Chris joined The Maine Tour Connection after many years commuting from upstate NY to ME to spend time with her knight in shining armor, Jordan, and his two girls, Lauren and Hannah.
Her favorite thing to do is to explore Goose Rocks Beach in the winter-- the best time for finding treasures! She believes you can never have enough Sand Dollars in your collection.
When it comes to dedication, Chris is a fabulous example. In her 18 years at the Queensbury Hotel, she went from waitstaff to director of sales. Pretty unusal in the fast-turnover in hotel business.
Chris has completed the American Bus Association's CTIS program, and served as Chairperson for Resource Central, and of the CTIS Committee. She currently Chairs the Education Committee.
A Pennsylvania native, Alice got her start in hospitality at the Holiday Inn in historic Valley Forge, but lost her heart to Maine, relocating here in the 80s to begin a series of tourism-related positions.
Her career has included positions with The Sheraton Hotel, the Sonesta, the Erin Company, the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Greater Portland, the Portland Chamber of Commerce, and Portland Downtown.
She recently turned over her Operations Manager position at The Maine Tour Connection to Lacy Antonson in order to focus solely on advertising sales for Maine Tour Magazine.
Alice remains young at heart via hosting Shuhao, an exchange student from Beijing presently in his junior year at Waynflete and continuing to be a “mom” to Ruiqi, a junior at Bowdoin College.
Alice resides in Portland’s West End, where she can stay plugged in to the culture and happenings in that celebrated little city.
